Draft
First Draft
Round 1: Oliver Schneider (United Kingdom) 1:1
- Game 1: His waterspout djinn kept pounding me, I dont get any defense against it,
I think thats game.
- Game 2: I was lucky enough to get the Phantom warrior with Manta Ray running (he has no
blue creature), two unblockable attacking him
at the end, he died cos I phantom
winged his Heavy Ballista and return it back to his hand, he died.
- Game 3: We both tried really hard to finish the game but we didnt have enough
time.
Round 2: Damian Brown (New Zealand) 1:2
- He got tons of creature and ran over me to death.. crypt rat sucks!!!! It killed my
Archangel and btw, I found out that Blighted Shaman is also a great card.
Round 3: Massimo De Matteo (Italy) 1:2
- He got a tons of R/G creatures beatdown deck
. At the end, killed me with his
hulking cyclops and fireblast me to death.
Round 4: Filip Ruscic (South Africa) 0:2
- Can believe they actually pair up a person with 6 points against me (1 point), I guess
you can imagine what the result is eh?
Second Draft
Round 5: Gyorgy Szalay (Hungary) 0:2
- Sigh, I dont even remember how I lost to him
but anyway, I started to find
out that its not my day
Round 6: Diarmuid Quirke (Ireland) 2:1
- I lost the first game, but won the last two, I remember one of those games he got mana
screwed and the other one
hee
hee
the first time I found the usefulness of
my southern paladin, it was a good game and he is an extremely nice guy
(though he
mistakenly play a Firestorm hellkite when my southern paladin is in play). At the end I
think the time was almost up and he had like 1 card in his library when he was dead.
Round 7: Alberto Morena (Italy) 1:2
- Lost to him, sigh, whatever I lay out he always got a solution, abduction, etc etc
killed me with 2 islandwalk Merfolk Raiders. He is a nice guy, he was in fact teaching me
how to play while playing against me (e.g. remind me of some hidden trap his deck had set
against when I declaring attacking
)
Day 1 was a nightmare!!!!
Day 2: Standard Format (Type 2)
Round 8: Nicholas Jonathan Wong (Singapore) 0:2
- Game 1: I got 2 islands on my open hand and I shouldn't mulligan right? so I drew and
drew and kept getting counterspell, stp, etc...but then he got an outpost and beat the
hell outta me.
- Game 2: I got lands, but then I didn't get any counterspell, he got out one outpost so I
put out mine and then.... guess what?! he political trickery mine.... sigh... 2
outpost.... you can guess what the result is.
- I guess my deck didnt have enough shuffle
anyway
when a counterpost
facing another counterpost, luck is one of the main factor to determine who wins.
Round 9: Lui Figueira (Portugal) 2:0
- Game 1: He is playing a GW geddon deck with all those biggie like the 4/4 drop land, 3/2
get land, maro, etc
He kept putting out creature but I kept blocked with my token
and sometimes Wrath of God. At the end, he tried to cast 2 armageddon in a row with his
Maro on the board, but I managed to counter both of the geddon, lucky me... few turns
later, he conceded.
- Game 2: good hand for me, I managed to put out an outpost, wrath few of his
creature and then binding grasp his maro (he then plowshared it and cast another one),
then I got another binding grasp and killed him with his maro and my rainbow efreet.
Round 10: Johan Cedercrantz (Sweden) 1:2
- He was playing R/U/W, white were mainly for disenchant, I dont really remember how
I lost to him in the first game, but at the last game, I remember he got a straw golem out
first turn and then kept pounding me until I got an outpost and he got a dwarvan miner
out
. Dead outpost
Round 11: Adam C. Tamzil (Indonesia) 2:0
- I only remember that he played a red burn deck with lots of bauble, urzas and
lodestone and also a geddon. I control the board well and killed him.
Round 12: Alejandro Gimena (Argentina) 2:0
- He was playing a weird Prison deck with icy, winter orb, dreamtide, etc etc
One of
the fun move was that he tried to stack up 3 winter orb and cast on the same turn, I
countered the first two and he was happy that the third one came in while I disenchanted
it at the end of his turn.
Round 13: Thomas Elias Felsberg (Brazil) 2:0
- Game 1: He was playing a variation of turbo abeyance deck with a lot of wisdom
he
went up once to 34 life with 7 cards in his hand and at the end beat him down to 0
- Game 2: while beating him with outpost token, he wisdom with 6 cards back up to 27 life
but at the end I got too many tokens for him to handle
Round 14: Frank Adler (Pro-tour Atlanta Champion) 1:2
- Game 1: he killed me fast with frenetic efreet and such, R/U really rocks!
- Game 2: I got lucky, he could have kill me many times if I didnt draw that wrath
of god, stp, etc,etc and at the end, he could have killed me if he drew any DD, but
instead he got an impluse and found an earthquake while he was at 1 life, he cast a
frenetic instead and I got 1 token at the end of turn, I need to draw that stp to kill him
off
. And I did
a stp
I think I did get lucky on that game.
- Game 3: Luck will run out
it was a long game and the judge called the time is up
on my turn, but well, what the hack, I decided to let him finish me off instead of ending
the game on my turn(I know that I will lost that point but what the hell, its a game) I
told him to go ahead and kill me and he did. (in fact if I had that point, I would have
been in top 100 instead of rank 106)
Day 2 was not too bad, I got 4-3
Day 3: Extended Format
Round 15: Egill Stefansson (Iceland) 0:2
- He was playing a R/G/W deck with erhnam, white stuff and I can hardly handle those many
creature (I should have get a WoG in the deck), anyway, lost 2 game straight. That happens
when playing your friends deck J
Round 16: Joao Isidro (Portugal) 2:0
- All I could remember is that he hymned me twice in a row and then spector, I stp the
spector and turn back controlled the game (with so many pro black creature, it hurts him
ya know)
Round 17: Diego Rivas (Argentina) 2:1
- Red Red burn burn burn
. Game 1 red burn win
. Second game, I managed to put
an empyrical armor on the sea sprite and he died fast. In the third game, right before he
died, he exiled my armored sea sprite, but at the end, still die from my bolt.
Round 18: Gunnar Johannson (Iceland) 2:1
- He was playing black with bad moon. I remember I sleight his bad moon to white and
attack with my white creatures with the power of my crusade and his white bad moon
I
still dont understand why he knew that I play with slieght and he still put out his
bad moon
Round 19: Gabriele Pisicchio (Italy) 0:2
- What can I do? Dark ritual wildfire on turn 2
and turn 3 another ritual and
wildfire, 2 wildfire beat me to death.
Round 20: Dominique Coene (Belgium) 0:2
- fast quick red burn, bolt, bolt, bolt, incin, fireblast, fork and game.
Round 21: Allan Grooby (NewZealand) 2:0
- They screwed and we have to restart the game
I was just lucky to get empyrical
armor out for both games though sometimes he manged to sword it or wisdom, but when I
place an armor on whenever he is tapped out, 7-9 points of damage straight away was just
too strong. At the end, he got a maro and serra out while I only have a white knight, he
attacked with the maro and I took the hit and I sleight my knight to pro-white while he
was at 8 and attacked then with 2 bolts finished the game.
Sigh sigh sigh, if I did as well as in the 2nd and 3rd
day (4-3) on the first day then I would have got to top 40... sigh, anyway, tough luck....
